Miss Chitty illustration of Neolithic and Bronze Age Pottery

These illustrations show a selection of Neolithic and Bronze Age pottery. Pottery vessels had a variety of uses; there were used as drinking cups and beakers, cooking pots, storage jars and funerary urns. Many of these items survive because they were placed as grave goods in burial chambers.

These watercolour drawings were made by Miss Chitty who was a notable archaeologist specialising in the pre-historic period.
